The opening day of the seminar is fast approaching and we are busy finalising all the details.
 
Abstracts
We have received a great number of abstracts and we wish to thank all those who have shared their experiences. In the coming days, all persons who have submitted an abstract will be contacted by a thematic content leader on the status of their contribution. The thematic leaders will be your contact and he or she will inform you on the next steps, including how to finalise your submission and in which format.  
 
The programme
The logistics staff and thematic leaders are actively working on designing a programme that will reflect the wide diversity of challenges and issues raised in the abstracts. A preliminary programme will be shared with you on both the IRC and PsEau websites in two weeks’ time.  
 
Registrations
Due to the overwhelming number of pre-registrations we have to look at other modalities to enable people to contribute to the seminar. In the next announcement we will have more information on this.

Initial anouncement

The IRC, International Centre on Water and Sanitation and the pS-Eau, programme Solidarité Eau, in partnership with the Economic Community of West Africa, ECOWAS are pleased to announce the organisation of the seminar on WASH monitoring.

 

             

What?
A learning and sharing seminar on monitoring and evaluation of water and sanitation services in rural areas and small towns in Africa

When?
April, 7th, 8th and 9th 2014

Where?
Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso

Who?
150 to 200 participants (local decision-makers, municipal technicians, NGOs, consultants, national and regional stakeholders and development partners), involved in the development or management or water and sanitation services who wish to share their experiences and learn from others. Experiences from all African countries are very welcome.

Why?
Monitoring and evaluation is a fundamental approach for the rational and sustainable management of local services on a given territory

How?

  • Submit a contribution and share your experiences and your knowledge through articles, posters, pictures, videos or any other format.
  • Take part in the plenary and thematic sessions during the seminar

 

Monitoring and evaluation is crucial in ensuring sustainability of water and sanitation services and a necessity for a variety of local stakeholders with diverse interests and objectives. The international seminar taking place from April 7th to 9th 2014 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, will offer a bilingual platform for exchanging experiences and knowledge from the field on various themes linked to monitoring and evaluation.

Strategic themes for the seminar

Monitoring and evaluation is a broad topic that covers many aspects. Four themes have been selected to structure discussions during the seminar:
1. Monitoring and evaluation to support local governments’ water, sanitation strategic planning
2. Monitoring and evaluation to improve water, sanitation and hygiene services
3. Monitoring and evaluation to manage water and sanitation services
4. Monitoring and evaluation to regulate water and sanitation services
