Abstract:
This paper presents the experience of a PV pumping project being carried-out in the South of Morocco since 1997. At present, the project has reached 18 villages, affecting 15 000 people.
It shows that although it is true that this technology has reached a great maturity in the aspects linked to “photovoltaic” aspects, to such a point that it can be frankly said that it is a mature technology and that it has great reliability, nevertheless, the aspects linked to the adjective “decentralised” are quite uncertain.
The demand estimation, the quality of the hydraulic infrastructures, and the management of the systems are questions, to quote just the more relevant, which will require a great effort from researchers, in the comparative analysis of new experiences, before reaching generally valid answers.
