In bio-latrines this is combined with the need to manage human waste in areas where there is no centralised sewerage system. Practical Action has done this in a number of institutions such as schools and hospitals in Kenya in Nepal in respectively. This new technical brief outlines some of the benefits and disadvantages of the bio-latrine approach.
