Objectives:
Focus on fundamentals and applications of ecosan.

This course presents approaches to sustainable sanitation in low-income countries world-wide, which contributes to achieving MDG targets in the area of sanitation but also in related fields such as natural resource protection, food security, improving living conditions in slums, poverty reduction and environmental sustainability. The course explores how these areas are interrelated and why sustainable sanitation is a crucial issue. It covers a wide range of fields due to the inter-disciplinary nature of the subject; namely technical, environmental health, agricultural, institutional, financial, planning, socio-cultural, hygiene and gender aspects.
Public:
Water, sanitation, agriculture and health professionals.

The course is designed for mid-career professionals dealing with planning and management aspects of decentralised, small-scale or low-cost water sanitation systems, working for municipalities, government ministries, water supply agencies or the private sector. It is specifically designed for people who do not have the opportunity to travel abroad to take a course that lasts several weeks.
