Hydroconseil - Avignon Downloadable format: PdF ![]() Abstract: The methods currently used in Ghanaian schools (Traditional and Minimum Standards) need to be improved to make hygiene learning in schools effective. Some newer approaches include practice-based activities and the use of play and sports to raise awareness of hygiene and health. This research sought to measure and compare the effectiveness of different health and hygiene promotion approaches in Ghanaian schools, to estimate their implementation costs and to evaluate and endeavour to optimise their cost- effectiveness. The conclusion of the research is that the cost-effectiveness of hygiene promotion in schools can be improved by implementing the principles of these approaches with government resources.
