Abstract:
In many countries, periods are not only taboo, they lead to stigmatization, exclusion, and are an obstacle to education for girls and to independence for women. Since 2014, Menstrual Hygiene Day (MH Day) on 28 May has aimed to raise awareness about the issue.
Margaux Chinal, Water and Sanitation Project Manager at AFD, highlights the importance of public action and the role donors can play in improving menstrual hygiene conditions.
