Abstract:
Ecological sanitation (Ecosan) is based on the nutrient cycle. In the modern centralized waste water solutions human faeces are considered more as a resource than waste. Excrement is treated in situ and the formed end product can easily be used as fertilizer in agriculture. Ecological sanitation techniques take into consideration the surrounding environment by decreasing contamination as well as keeping it clean and safe.
