The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) organized the symposium in collaboration with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN- ESCWA) and the Pacific Water Research Centre (PWRC) of Simon Fraser University, Canada. The symposium participants included civil society representatives, researchers, experts, governmental and non- governmental practitioners.
