Abstract:
The search for sustainable solutions to address the complex issue of equitable access to water and sanitation services has led to a number of international commitments over the past decade to raise the sanitation profile in the agenda of national development policies. This study examines urban sanitation experiences in Senegal and Burkina Faso and offers evidence that urban sanitation in large West African cities faces specific issues linked to urban setting, housing development and urban environment, and to the development of water services.
