La Méditerranée a toujours été le creuset d'innovations issues de la mosaïque d'idées, de projets et de pratiques parfois antagonistes de ses peuples riverains. À l'ère de la globalisation, elle doit unir ses forces dans des projets de développement rassemblant les savoirs techniques et scientifiques des acteurs de sa société civile.
Ce répertoire est un outil de contribution à cette dynamique de coopération, en particulier entre les rives Nord et Sud, dans la reconnaissance d'une identité méditerranéenne commune. Son objectif est de faciliter les démarches suivantes : repérage et contact des acteurs de l'environnement et du développement durable ; valorisation et échange d'expériences ; identification des lieux de savoir et de formation ; aide à l'accès aux financements ; implication des sociétés civiles ; lien entre les différents réseaux dans le monde. Abstract:
The history of the Mediterranean is tied to the birth of a multiplicity of cultures, religions, technical and scientific skills that have enriched the world since the dawn of time.
Far from being a peaceful area, the Mediterranean, in the image of its occasionally excessive climate, has always been a melting pot of innovation and turbulent combinations of ideas, projects and practices invented by the peoples living around it.
The era of globalisation has now faced the Mediterranean with a set of challenges in which it must ensure that it uses the strengths that unite the area to manage its projects, rather then the elements that divide it. The many, often modest civil society organisations working in this direction seem to be convinced that this is the way forward.
This Directory is a small contribution to the move towards cooperation, particularly between the North and South shores as they seek to recognise their common Mediterranean identity: it will enable them to locate and contact organisations working in the immense field of environ-ment and, from now on, necessarily durable development, develop and exchange experience acquired across the range of technical and scientific awareness-raising activities, identify sources of knowledge and training, ease access to finance, involve civil societies, make contact with networks in other parts of the world, etc.
This is what the directory hopes to achieve in terms of reinforcing the capabilities of the organisations involved.
