Abstract:
Water was a Dream' is a film describing IIED-America Latina's involvement in the improvement of water supply and sanitation services in three low-income urban settlements of Buenos Aires. It illustrates the challenges and strategies, and examines the key issues related to working in collaboration, using information as a driver for change, finance mechanisms, and scaling up.
The project documents innovative and inspiring examples of locally driven water and sanitation initiatives in deprived urban areas. It also provides a basis for better understanding on how to identify and build upon local initiatives that are likely to improve water and sanitation in low income settlements. Resumen:
Este proyecto documenta ejemplos innovadores y crea una base a partir de la cual generar un mayor conocimiento acerca de la identificación y construcción de iniciativas locales que busquen mejorar la provisión de agua y saneamiento en los asentamientos urbanos de bajos recursos. Mira como estas organizaciones locales han logrado: a) aumentar la escala de los proyectos, b) trabajar en colaboración con distintos actores, c) desarrollar mecanismos de financiamiento apropiados y d) utilizar sistemas de información tales como el mapeo comunitario, para guiar acciones y monitorear resultados.
