Résumé:
Tibiri, un village de 27 000 habitants à 600 kilomètres de Niamey, la capitale du Niger.
Dans un dispensaire, le personnel soignant s'affaire en tous sens et réalise son impuissance.
Plus de 500 enfants sont handicapés, dont certains à vie. Hypertrophie crânienne, trouble de la croissance, déformation osseuse : ils sont atteints de fluorose ostéo - dentaire, une maladie due à un excès naturel de fluor dans une eau qu'on a cru pendant plusieurs années " potable ".
Cette eau provient d'un forage profond (174 mètres) mis en service en 1985 et exploité jusqu'en 2001 par la Société Nationale des Eaux (SNE).
- Les premiers cas de malformations apparaissent dès 1987.
- La première alerte médicale n'est donnée qu'en 1996.
Il faudra attendre deux années supplémentaires pour que le gouvernement nigérien exige l'arrêt de la distribution d'eau provenant de ce forage. Abstract:

In a free health centre, the medical staff is very busy and realizes its powerlessness.
More than 500 children are handicaped, some of them for life.
Skull enlargement, growth troubles, bone malformation: they are suffering from skeletal and dental fluorosis, a disease caused by a natural fluor excess contained in a water that was long thought to be "drinkable".
This water comes from a deep drilling (174 meters) put in operation in 1985 and exploited till 2001 by the National Comapny of Waters.
- The fisrt cases of malformations appeared on 1987.
- The first medical alert was given only in 1996.
It would take two years more for the Nigerian Government to call for the stopping of water distribution coming from this drilling.
