Electronic Conference
“Sanitation – The Deadly Cost of
Doing Nothing”
5-24 November 2007
From 5 to
24 November 2007, the Africa Working Group (AWG) of the European Union Water
Initiative (EUWI www.euwi.net) organised an electronic conference
on the theme: “Sanitation – The Deadly Cost of Doing Nothing”. This on-line conference was organized and
mediated by the pS-Eau.
The
objective of the conference was to build
messages related to sanitation issues that are shared between African and
European partners
These
messages will contribute:

To the
preparation of a high-level Africa-Europe meeting,
-
To the
AfricaSan+5 conference in Durban (South Africa) in February 2008,
-
2008 International
Year of Sanitation events http://esa.un.org/iys/.
The on-line
conference focused on three themes:

Week 1
(5-10 November): How to build sound
national sanitation policies?

Week 2
(12-17 November): How to
empower and support local governments to face the challenge of providing
sanitation services?

Week 3
(19-24 November): How to finance sanitation infrastructure and services?
